Vegemi and Weqaya collaborate to promote children’s health in Saudi Arabia

We’re proud to announce the launch of a pilot program introducing the Vegemi Method in select Saudi schools. In alignment with Saudi Vision 2030 and directions of the WHO Collaborating Center for Nutrition at Saudi Public Health Authority (Weqaya), this project aims to show how early, school-based interventions can drive measurable impact for children’s long-term health and wellbeing.

This initiative marks an exciting step toward strengthening nutrition education and preventative health for children — at a time when rates of obesity and diabetes are rising across the region.

Starting this November, three schools will introduce Vegemi’s microbiome-based nutrition and wellbeing programme, designed to:
• Build health and nutrition literacy through engaging, science-backed learning
• Encourage healthy eating habits rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole foods
• Raise awareness of Type 1 Diabetes, supporting teachers and parents in caring for affected children

Together with Weqaya, we’re helping every child in Saudi Arabia gain the knowledge, confidence, and care to thrive.

Vegemi was founded in Finland, and also partakes in collaboration with the SSO supermarket chain.

The project is financed as part of the measures implemented by the European Union due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
