Vegemi arrives in the UAE!

We’re excited to share the news that Vegemi has officially landed in the UAE, and is already taking healthy adventures with children, parents and educators!
The announcement comes following a successful pilot period, and we now have the support of the Dubai Health Authority, and are actively onboarding schools!
We’re grateful that the UAE recognises the importance of creating happy and healthy environments for children to thrive. In line with global trends, there has been growing concern in recent years about children’s health in the UAE:
- Children in the UAE have poor fruit and vegetable consumption. Only 9% consume the recommended amount of fruit daily, and 4% consume the recommended amount of vegetables daily. This is partly due to increasing consumption of convenience foods and snacks high in sugar and fat. [1]
- Obesity among younger children in the UAE is also a growing concern. The prevalence of overweight and obesity among children aged 5-9 years is 23%. [2]
- 92% of parents in the UAE want more food education in schools! [3]
Lifestyle changes, dietary habits, an increasing prevalence of obesity and related conditions, and parent concern spotlight the need for better nutrition education, especially when it comes to fruit and vegetable consumption. That’s where Vegemi steps in!
A study of the Vegemi Method showed that 92% of educators witnessed increased willingness from children to eat fruit and vegetables, after receiving the education. What else does Vegemi achieve?
- Improved food awareness and familiarity
- Understanding the nutritional value and benefits of fruits and vegetables
- Increased willingness to taste fruits and vegetables
- A more positive perception of healthy foods
- An understanding of the necessity of nutritious food for their health and wellbeing
- Knowledge of where fruits and vegetables are grown
- Inspired to make food choices that are planet-friendly
