Vegemi in the Curriculum

Educational curricula worldwide, despite their differences, are designed to provide structured pathways that ensure children build essential skills as they progress through each stage.

However, health and well-being education is frequently underrepresented, even though educators recognise its importance amid an escalating global health crisis affecting children. Vegemi aims to change this by embedding nutrition and health education into the core of the learning experience, bridging a critical gap within traditional curricula. In this blog, we’ll show you how we’re making it happen and why Vegemi is the ideal solution for your schools!

Health and Wellbeing Education

Health and well-being education typically provides a cursory overview of physical and mental health, focusing on diet, exercise, and general well-being habits. In contrast, Vegemi takes a comprehensive approach by incorporating behavioural incentives and addressing a wide range of health topics. This includes promoting fruit and vegetable consumption, oral care, managing screen time, and practising mindfulness.

Science and the Natural World

Understanding the environment, biology, and ecosystems is fundamental to early childhood education curricula. Vegemi is ideally positioned to enhance this by incorporating lessons about our body physiology and functions, our inner and outer microbiomes, food systems in the environment, the significance of the natural world for our health and well-being, and concepts of responsible and sustainable citizenship.

Maths and Literacy

Maths and literacy are foundational skills. They support children’s learning and development across the curriculum. At all stages of the Vegemi method, children are encouraged to utilise and develop their mathematical and literacy skills, including specific opportunities to do so.

Social and Emotional Development

Social and emotional development skills contribute to children’s health and wellbeing, and learning, and therefore are important in the curricula. Vegemi’s method particularly supports this development through food, encouraging children to positively reinforce each other, celebrate their achievements, discuss their feelings and react mindfully! Developing children’s connection between what they eat and how they feel applies and transfers to children’s wider social and emotional development – and are useful skills for life!

Creative Expression and Play-Based Learning

Creativity and play are two of children’s greatest tools in their learning journey. That’s why Vegemi draws upon these throughout the method, encouraging children to tap into their self-expression. Each module has creative-specific tasks, but aside from this each resource draws upon playful and creative thinking – both at school and at home!

Reinforcing Learning Beyond the Classroom

The Vegemi method is designed to cross seamlessly between school and home environments so that children can continue their learning, whilst engaging all of their key environments. The Vegemi App in particular engages parents and carers for an easy, motivating and impactful way for children to learn beyond the classroom.

Vegemi is empowering students to healthy, sustainable habits which support their learning and life-long wellbeing! Vegemi not only supports nutrition education objectives, but also provides a holistic approach to enhance knowledge and skills across key curricula areas such as science, maths, literacy, environmental, creative and social subjects.
